KITCHEN BIRDHOUSE

I have this birdhouse on my kitchen counter. It is a piece I have painted many times but it was not designed by me. It was from a tole painting pattern. I have even seen it on the counter in a high end kitchen in a design book. But this is no ordinary birdhouse. It has a surprise inside. Have a look.

This sucker holds your paper towels. I know, so cool isn't it? I love it. It is heavy enough that you can peel off a towel with one hand.

  1. This is too funny!
I painted that birdhouse years ago!! Long ago sold.
I forgot how cute it was. And yours is a towel holder!
    What a great idea.

    Nice work too!!

  2. When ever I see something painted by someone else of the same things I have painted it amazes me at how different the end product turns out.
Our painting eyes and hands are just so different.

  3. Clever. Doing kitchen renovation I've come to realize/fret about/become aggravated by such things that CAN NOT BE LEFT OUT of my grand plan. (The kitchen plan, not the plan to rule the earth.)

  4. I've noticed it on your counter, admired it and thought perhaps you had a family of gerbils living in there. I like the paper towel holder idea. I am constantly putting mine under the sink because I hate to look at on the counter. Veddy Veddy nice.

ps: Hub says thank for the clip, he thinks like this about a million times a day.

  5. Lori, this is such a clever idea! I really hate to see towel holders on the blasted counter! And then no one can figure out how to place the flying end of the roll back into place so it can be torn off easily by the next person. And then there is the wet hand on the nice and dry towels because that same person can't hold onto the top of the holder in order to tear the D*&# thing off!!! Oh, I am on a roll now..... get it? roll.... hugs, Sue/Ethel

  7. You are SO talented. Did you have to put the birdhouse together, too? I wish I had half of your energy.

  8. I thought it was a great idea when I saw the pattern. Yes Lindalee I did put it together too using a nail gun. I made it a long time ago, my energy now drained. Must go...too tired to type...
