GIVEAWAYS: Daisy Welcome Sign

DRAW DATE APRIL 14TH. 9:00 A.M. PST

To say goodbye to Winter I am giving away this Welcome sign that I painted.

It started out as an 8 x 14 inch board.

I start from the back and work my way to the forefront.

Then you base in some flowers.

I can feel the weather warming up already. Added in some centers and shading.

Just like a real garden you have to add in some more filler flowers.

Now how do I win this you ask.
Enter by writing in the fabulous feedback about "what is your favorite flower and why". If your comment doesn't post the on the first click then click a second time. I will mail this anywhere.
Enter by Tuesday, April 14 at 9:00 a.m. P.S.T.
Good luck.

UPDATE: Note that I draw the winner randomly by assigned numbers but I love your comments.

  1. My favorite flowers are the "Morning Glories", because the open up in the morning and go to bed at night. And they grow like vines. And it is my birthday on April the 5th. The big 49.

  2. The big 49 is Richard Girouard, I forgot to mention my name.

  4. My favourite flower is the rose. I love them because they are cheap to buy, they come in all shapes and sizes, you can enjoy them inside and outside, the perfume can be glorious, and they flower in so many colours.

  6. I love freesias. They have that peppery smell that just lasts and lasts. I always have a bouquet of something on my table and it always includes freesias.

  7. My favorite flower is the Apple Blossom.
It speaks to us in Mother Nature’s own Language.
It blooms in awe and soundlessly speaks to us.
It is a “hello” to spring and a “goodbye to Ol’ Man Winter.
It symbolically suggests: “good things will come our way-the fruit”

  8. I have two favorites. Lily of the Valley because
it is a May flower and so am I. My very favorite is the Cherry Blossom because it simbolizes spring, my favorite time of year, which means golf season is here.LN

  9. Oh mine is Lily of the Valley also. My Mom carried it in her bouquet, and we had it at our wedding. The day before the wedding I had to hit every florist in town looking for a flower that was out of season. I did eventually find some really good looking silk versions.

  10. I have Lily of The Valley in my garden and it multiplies like crazy. Smells beautiful.
When I worked retail many years ago the little old ladies would come in reeking of the perfume. Not so beautiful.

  11. I love bright red geraniums. They are just gorgeous and last all summer, right into fall.

  12. Pansies are my favourite. I love to see their little smiling faces in so many brilliant colours. When they show up in spring, they seem so happy just to be alive. On gloomy grey days, when I feel grumpy, winter pansies bring a smile to my face with their bright splash of colour. Hope to see some spring pansies popping up soon.

  13. I like the geraniums too because my father in law had a German accent and he pronounced it Garaniums.
Min hopefully I can show you my smiling face soon to cheer you up. ;-)

  16. Hi Lori
First I would like to say your artwork is just beautiful. As to my favorite flower I must tell you I work for a Wholesale floral warehouse and see thousands of flowers everyday from all over the world but even though some are quite unique my favorite still remains to be the Minnesota Lady Slipper that grows in the ditches and woods of northern Minnesota

  17. Thank you for your kind words. I bet a lot of people think you have one of the best jobs ever. I will now go and look up what a Minnesota Lady Slipper looks like.

  18. Hi Lori,

First let me say you have done an exceptional job with your website. I enjoyed reading your recipes and genealogy.
My favorite flower is a purple violet. It is a beautiful woodlands little plant that can be eaten as well as used for a decoration on cakes etc. It is also the flower associated with my Native name.
Your painting is beautiful and would certainly be a beautiful addition to anyone's home. Thank you for your generosity and sharing.

  19. I just want to remind everyone that I need a way to notify you if you win. ;-)

  20. My favourite would be the violet because my nana used to grow them and it reminds me of visiting her.

  21. How nice. And tell me Thom. What kind of flower does Leanne remind you of?

  22. Just found your site and I have enjoyed your genealogy comments.

Your "give away" is beautiful...I like to paint but don't have the same results a you. :)

Day lilies have to be at the top of the list - perennial, can last thru the growing season, have great colors, and some have a magnificent fragrance.

Good luck with your web site. Connie

  24. Definitely the gardenia--love the fragrant smell and white delicacy!

  25. My flower is the sunflower it is so cheery and happy looking. And has sun flowers to eat From Dot

  26. Dahlias! But not black dahlia's - those are just too spooky. But the pretty pink or orange or white ones. Love how they have a concentric, concentrated "pattern". They look layered & yet perfectly assembled. Almost as if someone painstakingly placed each petal in it's exact position to get the perfect look! Just loverly they are!!

  27. Hi Lori,
I'm awake now(unlike the cats LOL!)
My favourite flower is Lavender, not only because of the beautiful scent but because it reminds me of my happy childhood spent at my Grandparents' home.(Plus it's olde fashioned like me!!!LOL!)

  28. My favorite flowers is a hydregnia. They are a burst of color in some cases, and then in white so classic and elegant. Even dried, their beauty is impressive.

  30. Hi!! I am so glad you stopped by my blog to leave a comment on my genealogy about sailors' photos and my Mom. I am glad to have been able to come to your blog -as a result of you finding mine- and look forward to more visits too!

I have many favorite flowers: 1.I love the white hybrid Iris that belonged to my maternal Grandfather in his rock garden with fish pond until the 1970s---it has continued to bloom in my garden, even still. It is a kind of genealogy entry in my flower garden in front of my kitchen window.
    2. I love the single Hyacinth stalk that still manages to poke its head up out of the cold Ohio ground and have just enough flower bloom to give lovely fragrance even though the appearance is not prize winning....it was planted many, many years ago (before I was born) by my Mom. It is a kind of genealogy entry in my spring bulb garden here at the house where I grew up (and still live). 3. I love wild white Violets that randomly decorate my gardens because they just seem so carefree!!

I think this giveaway is a wonderful item. Thank you for offering it to the lucky winner, maybe it will be me! I will cross my fingers.
    Amy
PS- I have watched Shawshank and Birdcage so many times I have lost count!!!! I see they are listed in your favorites.

  31. I agree with the genealogy garden reference. I was going to plant roses with names that matched my ancestors such a "Cecile" Brunner or a "Zepherine" Drouhan (spelling???) I just never do very well with the roses in my garden and figured I would save my money.

    ReplyDelete
  32. My favorite flower is the hydrangea. I love all of the colors of these fluffy snowball type flowers. My uncle used to be able to make ones deep purple by putting something in the water (vinegar?) to make it more acidic.

  33. I would say roses are very special to me. Each time one of my children were born I would look at at there little faces and feel such love, Then my husband would walk in the room with a dozen of beautiful red roses. Therefore to this day whenever I see roses especially red ones I think back to those days. I still get roses but the five dozen I got then I will never forget. So I would say roses are my favorite.
