In 1885 a group of
Metis prisoners were on trial in Regina, Saskatchewan for their part in the North West Rebellion with Louis Riel. The brother of my great-great grandmother was among these men in the photo. They are in leg irons. His name was
Emmanuel Beaugrand dit Champagne and he died in Saskatchewan in 1904. Our ancestors have gone through a lot to get us to the point we are now. We should be very proud and very thankful.
